Mental Health Program

The Strong Minds, Strong Mines Mental Health Program provides awareness of the physical and mental health problems that can affect people working in remote environments.

Our flagship 8-month Mental Health Program is designed to support workers in the FIFO and DIDO industries by providing the tools, knowledge and support needed to prioritise mental wellbeing. This comprehensive program is tailored to meet the unique challenges of remote and high-pressure work environments, helping organisations build a culture of resilience, awareness and care.

We combine evidence-based research with lived experience to deliver content that is practical, relatable and easy to engage with. Our goal is to reduce stigma around mental health, promote early intervention and

strengthen existing health and safety systems. By improving awareness and understanding, we help companies create safer, more supportive workplaces.

The program begins with the training of selected Wellness Champions, team members who are passionate about wellbeing and committed to supporting their peers. These champions play a key role in delivering parts of the program and maintaining momentum across the workplace.

Throughout the 8 months, participants engage with a variety of activities and resources designed to support mental, physical and social wellbeing.

This program is designed to be flexible and scalable, allowing companies to tailor the experience to suit their workforce and operational needs.

Wellness Champions

Not everyone needs to be a qualified health professional to make a meaningful impact. The Wellness Champions initiative is designed to identify and support team members who are resilient, empathetic and passionate about the wellbeing of others. These individuals play a vital role in the success of Strong Minds, Strong Mines.

Wellness Champions help build and maintain a culture of care within the workplace. By actively appointing individuals who are committed to supporting their peers, organisations can strengthen their approach to mental health and guide workers toward appropriate support services.

Champions receive dedicated training, access to resources and ongoing support from our wellness team. While anyone can be nominated, we encourage individuals to volunteer for the role to ensure genuine engagement and long-term impact.

The Wellness Champions Role

Sharing valuable insights into mental health and wellbeing to educate and engage employees in open discussions.

Creating safe spaces where individuals feel comfortable sharing their personal experiences with mental health, helping to reduce stigma and normalise discussions around mental ill-health.

Ensuring new employees have access to important resources that promote overall wellness from the start of their journey.

Actively supporting initiatives such as R U OK? Day, Movember, and Mental Health Week to reinforce the importance of checking in on colleagues and prioritising wellbeing.

Motivating employees to engage in the physical health and wellbeing components of the Strong Minds, Strong Mines program, recognising the strong connection between mental and physical health.

Listening to employees who may be struggling and directing them to appropriate support services, both within the company and through external professional resources.
